Stories with a Jazzy Twist

Jazz stories

April, Mario and Napoleon at Abrons Arts Center, Summer 2013

Magic happens when April and her friends get together. April tells a variety of traditional stories, nursery rhymes, and folktales with some sassy characters that will get you rocking. Nursery rhymes turn into blues numbers and then some when this trio hit the stage.

April is joined by her friends, master jazz pianist and arranger, Mario Sprouse and Broadway percussionist Napoleon Revels-Bey in a concert of stories with jazz accompaniment.

Hear how Lizard gets the best of Ananci or what happens when Chicken Licken goes down into Foxy-Woxy's den or how monkeys came to swing in the trees.

This is a three person show suitable for all audiences.
